Beginning during the 2021-2022 school year, each student must do one of the following to graduate:
- Complete and submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
- Complete and submit a Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA)
- Submit a signed opt-out form (link provided below)
Once you have completed your FAFSA/TASFA, you need to updated your status in SchooLinks. SchooLinks does not directly connect with Federal Student Aid (FSA); students must manually update and change their status in SchooLinks. If you do not want to complete FAFSA or TASFA, you can sign an opt-out form at my office or in the counselors office. Students will not receive their cap and gown in May until they have updated their FAFSA in SchooLinks and/or until the Senior Year-end Activity is completed in SchooLinks. Please see the attachment for instructions on updating your status or send me (Mrs. Nowak) a screenshot of your completed FAFSA/TASFA and I will update it in SchooLinks. If your status says "Complete" in SchooLinks, please do not update your status. I have already verified it!
This is a state graduation requirement, not a Katy High School or KISD requirement. For Further Information: If you have any questions regarding House Bill 3, please contact HB3info@tea.texas.gov or visit the TEA website.
